State education excellence award for Morisset High tech guru

State education excellence award for Morisset High tech guru

Morisset High School’s technical support officer has been acknowledged for his service excellence and commitment to public education with a Secretary’s Excellence in Education Award.

Nick Patsianas, Morisset High School’s innovative Technical Support Officer (TSO), was nominated by his colleagues from other NSW public schools, for this high-level NSW education award.

The 2020 NSW Minister’s and Secretary’s Awards for Excellence shine a light on the outstanding achievement of students, public education staff and parents.

Nick’s award citation reads:

“Nick Patsianis epitomises the success of public education. He now promotes and builds the use of IT in all public schools as a vehicle to engage students in learning relevant to their future.

His professional, undeniable IT skill is dedicated to building the environments and infrastructure in schools to enable teachers to use technology to promote true learning. His focus is to ensure optimum IT to enable all teachers to truly engage, know, care for and value each student.

He selflessly shares innovative solutions, workarounds and fixes to issues that eliminate barriers to student engagement to all public schools through Yammer.”

In his early 20s, Nick who is affectionately known by the Morisset High School community as ‘Nicky P’, believes that he is the best person for the job because he has never left school. Nick started working for NSW public schools before he had even finished high school.

“I started helping out at my school when I was student, and got my first job at a school before I had even finished my schooling,” Nick said.

“Being part of the Morisset High community is something I am extremely proud of and I am committed to help our students make the most of their public school education, like I have had the opportunity to do.”

Prinicpal, Cheri McDonald, acknowledged the efforts of Nick and his colleagues to deliver IT and digital solutions to ensure students could continue to learn from home, and parents and family could continue to be part of the school community during COVID-19.

“Nick is very deserving of this honour for his commitment to public education. We are very lucky to have a great team of excellent and committed educators and staff at Morisset High.”
