Morisset High School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning School
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) brings together the whole-school community to develop a positive, safe and supportive learning culture.
The framework assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people. When PBL is implemented well, teachers and students have more time to focus on relationships and classroom instruction. Students and staff benefit from:
- Improved engagement in learning;
- Increased time focused on instruction;
- Improved social-emotional wellbeing;
- Positive and respectful relationships among students and staff;
- A framework for teachers to teach, model and respond effectively to student need; and
- Sets predictable learning environment where staff and students know what is expected to deliver effective practices that can be sustained over time.
PBL is at the heart of all teaching, learning, behaviour and wellbeing activities and programs at Morisset High School.
Morisset High School's PBL values are:
- Respect;
- Responsibility;
- Safety; and
- Engagement
These values are also the focus of the school communities of our feeder primary schools that are part of the Western Shores Learning Alliance. This makes for an easy transition for local Year 7 students as they start high school.
Our school also uses a merit award system 'Motown Bucks' for teachers and staff to recognise the positive contribution of students to their learning and school community.
MHS has regular PBL assemblies and lessons where students learn valueble learning and interpersonal skills that increase their sense of wellbeing, and ability to achieve their success at school. Students who embody MHS' PBL values are invited to participate in a special reward excursion each term.
Expectations for Learning at Morisset High School
Having high expectations of students, their commitment to their learning and engagment in the classroom, and how they interact with others, is at the heartbeat of the Morisset High School.
The Expectations for Learning are aligned with and reflect our PBL themes of Responsibility, Safety, Respect and Engagement.
Our students are aware of what is expected of them and our Expectations for Learning are clearly displayed in each classroom and learning area.
If you have any questions about the MHS Expectations for Learning please speak to your child's Year Advisor or Deputy Principal.
