Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.
We do this through:
- using Restorative Practices approaches as the framework that underpins all teaching, learning, behaviour and relationship management at Morisset High School
- teachers who help students feel welcome and included
- access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff
- programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
- help for students who are new or changing year levels
- clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
- staff who get to know each child and work closely with families
- developing health care plans for students
- open communication about wellbeing and support.

Connection comes first: How does Restorative Practice work?
Morisset High School is one of the first schools in Western Lake Macquarie to introduce Restorative Practices as the framework that underpins all teaching, learning, behaviour and relationship management at our school.
Restorative Practices is making a positive impact on school culture and the relationships between students, teachers, staff and families of Morisset High School.
This whole-school focus is centered on fostering a positive school culture by building stronger relationships, and focusing on how our students connect with each other, how our teachers and staff connect with students, and the way our school connects with families and our community.
Using Restorative Practices in the classroom and the playground, and to provide a roadmap to restore relationships and get back on track when things don't go to plan, is a powerful way to build positive relationships, resolve conflict, improve student behaviours, reduce negative relationships, encourage personal responsibility, and empower students to maker things right when things go wrong.
Working Restoratively means we ask students the right questions when things go wrong.
Put simply, in a situation of conflict or disagreement between students, our staff will ask your children questions like:
- What happened?
- How has that made people feel?
- What actions will they take to restore the relationship and make things better?
